The Department of History's commitment to historical understanding is exemplified by its faculty. This core group consists of some 41 regular and affiliated faculty members with varied academic backgrounds and research interests, many of whom cross the specific field and disciplinary boundaries. The department also includes emeriti faculty members -- some of whom teach occasionally and many of whom retain active research agendas -- as well as visiting lecturers and scholars who bring in special expertise from many areas of study.
Our graduate students bring a strong desire to become experts in their fields of study. Many come from around the world. Experienced staff members with many years of employment at UIC provide professional support to faculty and students. We also encourage continued relationships with our alumni.
