About

Susan Levine’s research and teaching focus on gender, social movements, and food policy. Most recently she has been exploring the history of international food aid.

She is the author of three books, Labor’s True Woman: Carpet Weavers, Industrialization, and Labor Reform in the Gilded Age (Temple University Press 1984), Degrees of Equality: The American Association of University Women and the Challenge of Twentieth Century Feminism (Temple University Press 1994), and School Lunch Politics: The Surprising History of America’s Favorite Welfare Program (Princeton University Press 2008).

Levine teaches courses in U.S. women’s history and particularly enjoys working with students on research methods and writing.
