Download iCal FileStuds Terkel was an author and radio interviewer on WFMT in Chicago for 45 years, interviewing folks from all walks of life and professions--Muhammad Ali, Gloria Steinem, Frank Zappa, Carl Sagan, Eartha Kitt, Stoakley Carmichael, Cesar Chavez, and Anna Deaveare Smith to name just a few.
Eartha Kitt (the first Catwoman) talks about how audiences remember best her songs about "Cadillac cars and loot."
Cesar Chavez reveals his childhood circumstances.
And Muhammad Ali discusses his conversion to Islam.
Thousands of hours of conversation have been digitized and are now available to the public.
- Meet Jen Coyle, the Educational Liaison to the Studs Terkel Radio Archive, and find out how she can support your curricular goals.
- Learn how to super-navigate the searchable archive to find engaging content.
- Discover how your students can upload audio clips to make playlists of great conversations and radical ideas, come to life through the human voice.
The Studs Terkel Radio Archive is a treasure of our shared history as Chicagoans and every student deserves to know about and listen to these voices of the elders and ancestors.
