SUMMARY:50 Years of Chicana/o, Women's, and Oral History: Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Louise Año Nuevo Kerr
DESCRIPTION:This year marks the 50th Anniversary since Dr. Louise Año Nuevo Kerr completed her PhD and groundbreaking dissertation, ?The Chicano Experience in Chicago, 1920?1970,? in UIC?s Department of History. Año Nuevo Kerr was the very first Mexican American woman to earn a History PhD anywhere in the U.S. She had a long career in higher education at a time when she was one of few Chicanas, Latinas, or women in academia, the discipline of history, and university administration. She was a passionate promoter of Chicana/o, Women?s, Oral, and Public History.
