The Department of History adopted a new mission statement on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
Mission Statement:
The Department of History at the University of Illinois Chicago seeks to explore and understand the past and learn from a diversity of voices. The department provides space for students, faculty, and the community to cultivate the critical-thinking and communication skills needed to develop cultural competencies, practice historical empathy, and help promote democracy and greater justice in our communities, our nation, and our world. (approved April 2022)
