Ivón Padilla-Rodríguez wins two prestigious dissertation awards
Bridge to Faculty Postdoctoral Research Associate, Ivón Padilla-Rodríguez, won two prestigious dissertation awards in 2022. Columbia University recently awarded her the prestigious 2022 Bancroft Dissertation Award. She was also won the Outstanding Dissertation Award from The Immigration and Ethnic History Society. Dr. Padilla-Rodríguez's dissertation is titled “Undocumented Youth: The Labor, Education, and Rights of Migrant Latinx Children in Twentieth-Century America.” She is a socio-legal historian of child migration and a scholar-activist. As the daughter of formerly undocumented Mexican immigrants, her research in and outside of the academy is rooted in her longstanding commitments to immigrant communities.
