PhD Alumna Lauren Braun-Strumfels wins Fulbright to Italy
Professor Lauren Braun-Strumfels (Raritan Valley Community College) has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for 2019-2020: A Research Lectureship in American Studies at the University of Roma Tre, in Rome, Italy. Her award is a 50/50 research and teaching position and will focus on "Immigration Restriction in Transnational U.S. History."
She will teach graduate students in the M.A. program in International Studies, lecture on her book project, and work on an edited volume on the U.S.-Italy relationship at the turn of the twentieth century. Lauren writes: “As a graduate student at UIC, I twice applied for Fulbright U.S. student core grants to Italy; one year I was named a finalist. I still remember the experience of interviewing in front of what seemed like a huge committee in the honors college building.” Now she is a Fulbright scholar!
