About

Raised in Chicago, Ada Marys is a PhD student and cultural worker interested in studying immigration and the Mexican presence in the United States. A previous intern at the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center, she worked on archives relating to the Chicano movement, specifically the East LA student walkouts. As the former Education and Business Assistant at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Ada Marys worked with youth to introduce concepts related to Mexican identity through visual art. She is the current Managing Editor of the bilingual publication, Tribuno del Pueblo, dedicated to uplifting stories from the immigration, labor, and housing movements. Ada Marys is particularly interested in how immigrant women shape the U.S. through activism, politics, and domestic labor.

Education

Ada Marys obtained her Associate’s degree in Political Science from Harold Washington Community College, as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California in 2022.
